🌲👀 They say the truth is out there... but honestly, the search is a hoot. I’ve been obsessed with this legend since I was five, and it all started on a riverbank in Crystal River. Was it an uncle or the real deal? The verdict is still out!

“I think perfectionism is just fear in fancy shoes and a mink coat, pretending to be elegant when actually it’s just terrified. Because underneath that shiny veneer, perfectionism is nothing more than a deep existential angst that says, again and again, ‘I am not good enough and I will never be good enough.’” - Elizabeth Gilbert So true. Perfectionism is the biggest thing holding me back time & again. My boss keeps reminding good enough is good enough. Just do the thing. I have so many stories in my head that I keep struggling to put down on paper and the biggest reason why is I want it perfect the first go round. Fear of it “not being perfect” keeps me stuck and so it’s just “not being” at this point. A good piece of advice I recently got was to lock the backspace key (in my head). Leave the poor grammar, the misspelled words, the disjointed transitions. Throw it out there like a lump of clay on a wheel, an indistinct blob and then shape it as you go. So I sat down tonight, resisted the urge to use that backspace and spellcheck and I wrote more in one sitting than I have in months. Go figure. 😏 #writing #elizabethgilbert #perfectionism

Some days my travels aren’t very far from home, but still just as magical. Today I took a much needed break from the noise of phones, computers, cars and such. Went for a jaunt on the Croom River Loop Trail and then the open sections of trail in Hillsborough River State Park. I saw baby raccoons, swallowtail kites, many other native birds species, a snake, an otter (sadly not fast enough to get a picture) and a lot of other beautiful life in the woods. Still so much is closed at HRSP more than 18 months after Helene & Milton and it breaks my heart as the Seminole trail was my favorite & is sadly still closed. Please support your local parks. With the gouging of budgets for conservation of our natural lands, they need our support. #croomrivertrail #hillsboroughriverstatepark #swallowtailkite #trashpanda #naturelover

Hanging out at the local Costa, watching the ever changing Icelandic weather. At first I could see the mountain across the tiny bay. Then the wind kicked up with gusts up to 50mph and the clouds rolled in so thick you could barely even see the pavement outside. I hung out there watching and almost as fast as it started, it died down again. #borgarnes #iceland #snaefellsnespeninsula

The highlight reel of my first international solo trip 💜🇮🇸 I chose Iceland for a few reasons. It was my first trip out of the country a couple of years ago. I fell in love with its beauty and mystery. It also happens to be one of the safest countries to solo travel in. Though my trip was short, just 3 1/2 days, it was filled with so much wonder and magic. Iceland will always hold a special place in my heart. “Cymru am byth” ~ Wales forever!
Our day trip to the capital city of dragons did not disappoint. Touring an 11th century motte and Bailey castle built by either William the Conqueror or Robert Fitzhamon, it formed the heart of Cardiff. The fact it’s still standing and we were able to climb all the way up to the tower was kind boggling. Additional structures continued to be built around this ancient ruin. Looking from the tower you can see the surrounding city with its gothic cathedrals, arcades and all the modern buildings shooting up around it. It’s quite the scene. Where England was very prim and proper (really lovely), Cardiff, Wales had this grit about it that felt familiar and so alive. I could feel that dragon energy all about. Absolutely an amazing day trip that was just a quick drive over the Prince of Wales bridge (also quite epic in its own right). #cardiff #wales #cymru #cymruambyth #uk #girlstrip #redventureswanderingginger #castles #castlesofeurope #reddragon

On day 4 of our UK adventure we visited the historical city of Bath. The sunshine continued to stay with us all day which was so amazing. The layers upon layers of history in this city were mesmerizing. We toured the ancient Roman baths (they took their spa days seriously!), and walked around exploring the shops & marveling at all the intricacies of the architecture. The main “pool” at the baths is green because minerals in it react to the sun exposure, turning it that color. I love green, but not in my pool 😜 When the Romans were here, they had a fully enclosed complex with many different pools, saunas & gyms for both men & women. The tour was very informative. You could even sample the water from a fountain (I took a pass 🤢, but Heather was brave and drank a small cup). We also walked down to the home Jane Austen lived in for 4 years. It was a 250th anniversary of some kind for Jane & the whole city was covered in banners and signs honoring her. I kind of geeked out on that. I’m not a big romance girl, but the fact she was a female writer and in a time where it was frowned upon made her such a baddy in my mind. On one of our last days we decided to visit the seaside. First stop was Weston-super-mare. It was very much a family oriented place which reminded us of Coney Island. The second was more natural & peaceful, Clevedon Pier. Stonehenge, Wiltshire, England. The feeling I had seeing this ancient site in person for the first time was one of awe and disbelief. It was on my list when we first started planning the trip and I’m sure my friends were over hearing me say, “I’m gonna see Stonehenge!” With the enthusiasm of a 5 year old about Disney. There is so much mystery surrounding who actually built it, what was it used for and how did they manage to move such massive stones without modern machinery. When I see it, I think about the power of the human spirit and the things we can accomplish with enough of a belief in why. Something I heard somewhere that I use in my own life is ,”Remember your why.” Anything can be achieved when you keep that in the forefront of your mind. It is one of the UNESCO World Heritage sites and is maintained by the English Heritage charity. We purchased Overseas Visitor Passes for around $65 US dollars each for 9 days of use. Salisbury Cathedral is an architectural masterpiece and one of England’s most remarkable landmarks. It boasts the UK’s tallest spire (404 feet), the world’s oldest working mechanical clock, and one of only four surviving original copies of the Magna Carta. Remarkably, its main structure was completed in just 38 years (1220–1258), supported by foundations only four feet deep on marshy ground.
While England is home to many magnificent cathedrals, Salisbury stands out for its elegance and history. Knowledgeable guides offer insightful tours of the interior, and visitors can also enjoy a café serving a variety of meals, pastries, and drinks, as well as a well-stocked gift shop.
Though there is an entry fee, it is comparable to other major sites, and well worth the experience. If you are visiting England, Salisbury Cathedral deserves a place on your itinerary.

I took this photo while walking by West Minister Abbey in London. I didn’t realize until I was back home in the states that it was a Virgin Atlantic plane. I’ve not had a lot of international flights…yet, but I was extremely impressed with the flights both ways Tampa to London. 🇺🇸❤️ 🇬🇧✈️ #virginatlantic #transatlanticflight #london #redventureswanderingginger #gingeradventures #airplane
